Your Happiness is Your Responsibility

“I just want to be happy” too often this is the response given to the question of what one wants out of life. As if happiness is a lost treasures that can be accidentally stumbled upon. Thankfully that simply isn’t the case. Thankfully happiness can be cultivated, developed and experienced at any moment we choose. 

When was the last time you asked yourself what it would take to be happy in this moment? When was the last time you stopped long enough to experience this very moment? It may surprise you of how often we ignore the “happiness” that already exists in our lives. Never take for granted today’s blessing worrying about tomorrow’s troubles.  

Start today by defining what it would be like to experience happiness today in this moment (how would you show up in life, what you would be doing, who would You surround yourself with). Then take account of the things that already exist in some form & give thanks for them. For example: I have a home, my children and I eat well everyday and I have a job that I enjoy, these simple facts make me very happy! 

Next decide on an action that you can take today to bring your ideal picture of happiness one step closer to being a reality. Commit to doing something each and every day that moves you in the direction of your goals. If you don’t move yourself towards happiness who’s going to do it for you? Be intentional about your life. I’ve pledged to stop letting life happen to me and to begin living life. Will you join me?
